All-on-6 Dental Implants in London

A full set of fixed teeth held on six implants per jaw, for extra support and stability. Planned and placed by Dr Sahil Patel at our Harley Street clinic.

What Are All-on-6 Dental Implants?

All-on-6 replaces all the teeth in one jaw with a fixed bridge held on six dental implants. The implants are spread along the jaw so the biting force is shared between more support points, which makes the bridge more stable and gives more back-up if an implant ever has a problem. For other ways to replace missing teeth, see our Dental Implants London page.

The bridge usually carries 10 to 14 teeth and is screwed to the implants, so it stays in place and does not come out at night.

When Is All-on-6 Better Than All-on-4?

  • The upper jaw: upper jaw bone is usually softer than lower jaw bone, so extra implants can help support the bridge
  • A strong bite or teeth grinding: six implants share heavy biting forces
  • Longer bridges: more support points suit a longer, stronger bridge
  • Long-term back-up: if one implant fails, the bridge is more likely to stay supported by the other five

All-on-6 needs more bone than All-on-4, so some people need bone grafting first. If you have limited bone, All-on-4 dental implants may be the better option.

Who Is All-on-6 For?

  • People missing most or all of their teeth in one or both jaws
  • People with failing teeth who want to replace them all at once
  • Denture wearers who want fixed teeth
  • People with enough bone along the jaw, or who are happy to have grafting first

Downsides to Consider

  • More surgery: six implants per jaw means more surgery than All-on-4
  • Bone grafting: you may need a graft before or during treatment
  • Cost: All-on-6 costs more than All-on-4
  • Cleaning: like any fixed bridge, it needs daily cleaning and regular professional cleans

All-on-6 Cost in London

Full arch treatment at Marylebone Smile Clinic, including All-on-6, starts from £12,000 per jaw and from £20,000 for both jaws. The price depends on the number of implants you need. Our full arch fees are all-inclusive, covering your consultation and 3D scan, extractions, temporary teeth while you heal, your final bridge and review visits. Your exact fee is confirmed once we have your CBCT scan, and set out in a written treatment plan before any treatment starts.

In the UK, All-on-6 is typically advertised from around £8,000 to over £15,000 per jaw. As with any full arch treatment, check whether the price includes extractions, temporary teeth, grafting and the final bridge material. Treatment can be spread with 0% finance over up to 24 months, or over up to 60 months with interest, subject to status.

The All-on-6 Process

1. Consultation and 3D Scan

We check your bite, bone and smile line and plan the position of all six implants from your CBCT scan.

2. Grafting, If Needed

If there is not enough bone in part of the jaw, we rebuild it first or at the same time as the implants. Read more about bone grafting.

3. Surgery Day

The implants are placed under local anaesthetic. IV sedation is available if you are nervous. It keeps you awake but deeply relaxed, and is provided by experienced sedationists including Dr Damien Reilly, a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry. Where it is suitable, fixed temporary teeth are fitted on the day of surgery. If an immediate temporary is not suitable for you, we make a temporary denture for you to wear while the implants heal.

4. Healing and Final Bridge

The implants bond with the bone over around 12 weeks. Around 3 to 4 months after surgery, your final bridge is fitted, with the shape and shade agreed with you first. Your final bridge is made from a titanium bar with zirconia over it. It is screwed to the implants, so it does not come out at home, but we can remove it for professional cleaning.

All-on-6 vs All-on-4

All-on-6 gives more support and back-up, while All-on-4 needs less bone and is often possible without grafting. For a side-by-side comparison, see our All-on-4 dental implants page, or compare every option on our full mouth dental implants page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is All-on-6 better than All-on-4?

All-on-6 is not always better than All-on-4, but it gives more support and more back-up if an implant fails. It often suits the upper jaw and people with a strong bite. All-on-4 needs less bone and is often possible without grafting. Your scan and bite decide which is right for you.

How much do All-on-6 dental implants cost in the UK?

All-on-6 dental implants in the UK are typically advertised from around £8,000 to over £15,000 per jaw, depending on the bridge material and what is included. At Marylebone Smile Clinic, full arch treatment starts from £12,000 per jaw and from £20,000 for both jaws, depending on the number of implants.

How long do All-on-6 implants last?

With good cleaning and regular hygiene visits, All-on-6 implants can last for many years. The bridge itself may need repairing or replacing over time.

Do I need a bone graft for All-on-6?

Some people need a bone graft for All-on-6, because six implants need bone along more of the jaw. Your CBCT scan shows whether grafting is needed. If it is, All-on-4 may be an alternative.

Is All-on-6 painful?

All-on-6 surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic, with IV sedation available, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Swelling and discomfort afterwards usually settle within a few days to a week.
